It’s Easy to Paint Chairs…really!
I just finished painting four chairs in the blink of an eye. No kidding.
Watch the video here, and/or see below for the step-by-step method to enjoy painting finicking spindles, chair legs, etc.
Step one: Come visit us at ReLoving (LOL).
Step two: Buy Country Chic’s Painting Sponge for $2.95. Okay, so maybe you are so excited you want to stock up and get 4-5.
Step three: Buy some Country Chic Paint. One of the small project jars for $9.95 will do one and maybe two chairs. A pint will do at least four chairs for $24.95.
Step four: Clean your chair with a vinegar water mix. Maybe 1:8 but it doesn’t matter that much.
Step five: Mix your paint well. Pour some onto a flat surface like a paper plate.
Step six: (You may want to wear a disposable glove for this as it will get messy, but the paint is harmless on your skin.) Dip the flat side of the sponge in the paint and then wipe the paint onto the chair legs and spindles. Note, you can wrap the sponge around the spindles for super complete coverage with no drips.
The coats of paint go on thin and even. By the time you finish four chairs you can go back and do a second coat if needed. The number of coats you require depends on the effect you are trying to achieve, e.g. distressed or not. And, if you are going from a dark wood to a white it may take more coats.
At ReLoving we paint every day and we like to share with you what we learn along the way. Happy painting!
Kari
